On Monday, April 3, 2006, Roundabout Theatre Company celebrated four decades of artistic excellence at our annual Spring Gala with Reunion: A Musical Celebration of Our 40th Anniversary. Nearly 600 artists and friends of reunited at Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers to pay tribute to Roundabout's incredible growth as it grew from a small theatre company underneath a supermarket to a major producer of Broadway and Off-Broadway plays and musicals. Featured speakers included stars Natasha Richardson and Liam Neeson, director-choreographer Rob Marshall, Founding Director Gene Feist and Artistic Director Todd Haimes.

The highlight of the evening was an original musical tribute directed by Roundabout's Associate Artistic Director Scott Ellis featuring beloved moments from all of our musical hits including She Loves Me, Little Me, Cabaret, Follies, Nine, Assassins and The Pajama Game. Among the many performers who reprised their roles were Becky Ann Baker, Blair Brown, Liz Callaway, Michael Cerveris, Harry Connick Jr., Merwin Foard, Boyd Gaines, Ty Giordano, Gregory Harrison, Capathia Jenkins, Daniel Jenkins, Jane Krakowski, Judy Kuhn, LaChanze, Darren Lee, Hoon Lee, Telly Leung, Michael McElroy, Kelli O'Hara, Denis O'Hare, Ron Rifkin and Martin Short. Among the evening's many surprises: Brett Spiner, Linda Emond and the entire cast of 1776 got the evening off to a rousing start with "Sit Down, John"; the entire cast of Twelve Angry Men left their anger behind as the sang "Falling in Love with Love" from The Boys from Syracuse; and more than 100 performers joined together for a magnificent finale singing Company's "Side by Side by Side."

Thanks to the efforts of Gala Chair Steven Goldstone and the generosity of our many supporters, the 2006 Spring Gala raised more than $1 million for Roundabout's Musical Theatre Fund. The Fund will allow Roundabout to continue to preserve and expand America's musical theatre heritage by supporting revivals that might not otherwise see the bright lights of a Broadway stage.
