MONDAY, APRIL 6, 2009
Roseland Ballroom
239 West 52nd Street
New York City
Inspired by this season's revival of the 1940 musical Pal Joey, Roundabout is going to take you on a trip back in time to the heyday of big bands and classic songs in New York City. At our 2009 Spring Gala, Take Me Back to Manhattan, we will recreate a swanky nightclub of the 1930s and 40s featuring the music of the day's great composers: Rodgers, Porter, Arlen, Berlin, Ellington, Gershwin and so many more. For one night only, we will recapture this golden age at Roseland Ballroom with striking décor, gourmet dinner, a big band and incredible performances.
The highlight of the evening will be an original musical revue created by Tony Award-winner Kathleen Marshall, director and choreographer of The Pajama Game and Grease, featuring today's hottest Broadway stars revisiting the now-classic songs that were the popular hits of the day.
All proceeds from this event will benefit Roundabout Theatre Company's Musical Theatre Fund.
